What is Gingiva (Gums)?

The soft tissue that surrounds and supports the teeth.
The gingiva, commonly called gums, is the mucosal tissue that surrounds the teeth and covers the alveolar bone. Healthy gums are firm, pink, and don't bleed when brushing. They form a tight seal around teeth to help protect the underlying bone and tooth roots from bacteria.
